When I think of pop culture I think of popular movies and shows. But I often find myself wondering why certain shows get more hype than others. Why do many of us get so sucked into another life that is not our own? Are we trying to escape to another world? Many of the times the world we may be trying to escape to isn't the best alternate reality to begin, yet we feel the urge to keep up with the show or movie.
Trends are constantly changing it's kind of hard to keep up but many of us try to keep up either way. For a while vampires and werewolves were extremely popular where people couldn't wait to see it and would camp out for the premieres of Twilight . Then that died out and The Hunger Games takes over where people can't wait for the next movie to premiere. Same thing happens with television shows it's an urge many get to keep up with a certain show. A current example would be how zombies have received a lot of attention because of The Walking Dead. Viewers anticipate for the season premieres of this show. But not too long ago viewers would anticipate the return the work of the drug dealer when Breaking Bad was still on air.
Keeping up with trends is difficult when they're constantly changing but the need to keep up with a show is overpowering. Many may not even notice the trends changing because one may be close to ending but another has already started to take over it's place. But thats how life stays interesting, by change.
